In 1996, Line 6 brought the digital revolution to guitarists with the introduction of the world's first digital modeling guitar amplifier, the AxSys 212. Line 6 was born as the manufacturing division of Fast Forward Designs, Inc., founded by partners Marcus Ryle and Michel Doidic, in 1985.A consulting company that came to prominence designing products for some of the top companies in the music industry, their expertise in analog and digital technologies helped create some of the most spectacular breakthroughs in musical history. Their expertise and proven track record, combined with the introduction of the revolutionary AxSys 212 in 1996, attracted startup funding from established venture capital firm, Sutter Hill Ventures. In 1998, Mike Muench joined Line 6 as President and CEO. Mike was formerly VP of the U.S. Consumer Division VP at Apple Computer, and with the Executive team has overseen our growth into one of the world's top 5 manufacturers of guitar amps. Line 6 was recently named the 'Fastest Growing Company in the Industry' by Music Trades, a leading trade publication.
